20% of the profit from this reproduction print will be donated to the shark research efforts at Oregon State University's Chapple Big Fish Lab! Deepening the understanding of one of the apex predators of the sea is critical to protecting the ocean ecosystems and conservation!
A 350lb Common Thresher Shark became a bycatch in September of 2024 for a local hake fishery and was donated to the Big Fish Lab by a commercial fisherman. I had an honor to preserve the event and the memory of this beautiful creature.
The series of kanji characters on the lower left reads "Thresher Shark Dorsal Fin" in English. (Onaga-zahme-no-sehbeeleh). The original impression from the fin and Acid Seaweed were taken using sumi ink.
